OPENING RECEPTION

July 9, 2026
6:00 PM – 8:00 PM

Join artist and anthropologist Marlon F. Hall for the opening of Unearthing Beauty from Brokenness and the launch of The Ecotone of Story: Houston, a residency at The Lymbar exploring what becomes possible when people from different cultures do more than coexist—and truly encounter one another.

Discover The Lymbar, a top-rated Houston restaurant and craft cocktail lounge where David Cordua infuses his culinary artistry with the rich flavors of Latin America and the Mediterranean. Rooted in a tradition that began on Lymbar Drive in Houston, our all-day neighborhood bar and open theatre kitchen offer an eclectic mix of Latin American and Mediterranean small plates, craft cocktails, and vibrant hospitality.

Featuring sculptural works assembled from reclaimed doors, burned remnants, salvaged metal, and symbolic fragments gathered across Houston, Tulsa, Kenya, Italy, Madison, and beyond, the exhibition invites guests into a world where beauty emerges from brokenness and separate stories become shared artifacts.

The evening will include music, conversation, and light refreshments.

In ecology, an ecotone is the fertile place where different worlds meet and new life emerges.

This opening reception is an invitation to practice that possibility together.

Free and open to the public.
